Maya’s inspiration… and the inspiration for this website… the violin tree sculpture in Mittenwald, Bavaria, Germany.
Mittenwald has a long tradition of violin making and the instruments made here are valued by musicians all over the world. In 1684 Matthias Klotz returned to his homeland and thus laid the foundation. A monument was erected in his honor in the town centre. Around a dozen master violin makers now have their workshops in Mittenwald, where the state vocational school for violin making is also located, the only one in Bavaria and only one of two in the whole of Germany.
